Shopping with my niece

I had thought my weekend would be pretty boring. E stayed home, he had a lot of work to get caught up on, so I was pretty much alone. However...

My oldest niece (I have 2) has been wanting to do something so I picked her up Saturday afternoon and we made a day of it. It was fun actually. She's 12 or 13 (bad Auntie, I can never remember) and really developing quite the personality. She's got a quirky sense of humor and is so smart. We drove out to Jax and Neptune beaches and drove up A1A (the main drag there.) We stopped at an "organic" farmers market (hippie groups, fun crowd) and walked around for a while, then she wanted to go in a surf shop where she tried on lots of clothes (OMG, a teenager that will actually try on things I pick out, LOL) but didn't find anything she just had to have. Then we drove to the St Johns Town Center (new, upscale, outdoors mall) because she thinks it's pretty how it gets lit up at night. We went to her favorite store (Hollister) and did some shopping. I bought her a sweatshirt since I missed her birthday (bad Auntie example #2) and walked around in Dillards, which is where the above picture was taken. We stumbled upon the "cape and oversized bag" section and she modeled for me. After all that shopping we had worked up an appetite so we went to Carrabba's for dinner.

I forget how much fun I have with her. I get so busy or pre-occupied and don't make enough of an effort to hang out with her. I will try to do better. But I had to post the funny pic above (blurred a bit for her privacy.)
